Year 7

Knowledge Organisers at Thomas Hall School

At Thomas Hall School, we believe that knowledge is the foundation of learning. To support our pupils in building strong subject understanding, we use Knowledge Organisers, a key resource that helps children and families stay connected to the curriculum.

What is a Knowledge Organiser?

Knowledge Organiser is a clear, termly overview of the essential knowledge your child will be learning in a specific subject. It includes:

  • Key facts and concepts
  • Important vocabulary
  • Visuals or timelines (where appropriate)
  • Core questions or themes

These organisers act as a reference point for pupils, teachers, and families — helping everyone understand what’s being taught and why it matters.

Why Are They Useful?

Knowledge Organisers help pupils:

  • ✅ Focus on key learning and retain important information
  • 🧠 Build long-term memory through regular review
  • 🏠 Talk about their learning at home with confidence

They also help families support learning outside the classroom, whether through discussion, revision, or homework.

When Are They Published?

We update our Knowledge Organisers every half term, so you’ll always have access to the latest curriculum content.

  • Autumn Term 1 – Available in September
  • Autumn Term 2 – Available at the end of October
  • Spring Term 1  – Available in January
  • Spring Term 2 – Available at the end of February
